The Spiritual Side of Real Estate – Why Buy a Home?

I get it, there’s a lot of political and economic uncertainty out there. We’re hunkered down, waiting for the other shoe to drop. Therefore, it’s the perfect time to buy a home if it’s what you want to do. Why? A home is a sanctuary where you can freely decorate and live, provided you respect your neighbors.  A home can be a place to ground your energy after being out in the world. Also, a haven, a place to work, have fun, raise a family and grow old.

Homeownership is a forced savings plan

If you pay your mortgage and taxes, you’ll build equity. Equity means the value of your home minus what you owe on your mortgage. Therefore, paying your mortgage over time you’ll gain more equity, so there’s a good chance you’ll make money if you sell it. Polls and stats show that homeownership is still #1 in America for the best long-term investment, seriously, better than stocks, bonds, gold and crypto.

Facts tell stories sell

I bought my first home in 2000 directly from the owners. I bought the home I was renting on a Contract-for-Deed (Google it). Being self-employed with irregular income most of my adult working life I didn’t have a lot of extra funds therefore didn’t think I could ever buy a home. Logically no, intuitively yes! I just kept my vision of homeownership in front of me and followed my inner guidance to keep going. There were lots of ups and downs throughout the homebuying process and being a homeowner, more of that story later. Owning a home, like having a child, is growing-up time.

Scared? Excited?

We can easily say yeah but my situation is different. Then you watch your friends buy homes and their stories either propel you forward or scare you to death. So, what’s holding you back if you want to buy a home? Timing? Fear? Lack of belief it’s possible? Don’t know where to start?
